    Julie McCowan, Attorney
Julie helps vulnerable adults and families with adult guardianship, conservatorship, and elder financial abuse. Julie is a licensed practicing attorney member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association.

Julie has been a member of Farmington Area Commission on Aging since 2017. The Farmington Area
Commission on Aging helps toward the betterment of daily living for older adults with the mission of
promoting their well-being and dignity through education and advocacy. The Commission examines
social attitudes, creates community awareness, establishes a climate for living independently and
encourages recognition for their contribution to the past and present.

Julie has developed, organized and lead programs to benefit the older adults in Farmington, Farmington
Hills and Oakland County. Julie also chairs the Education Committee recognized by the City of
Farmington Hills for their work on Elder Financial Exploitation. A proclamation recognizing the
committee’s efforts to prevent and address Elder Financial Exploitation was awarded March of 2022.
Julie became an accredited trainer for the National White Collar Crime Center and trained twenty-five
Farmington Hills Police Detectives on Victim-Centered Response to Elder Exploitation in May 2021. Julie
has presented at outreach events to assisted living caregiver groups and senior center groups on
Durable Power of Attorney and financial exploitation.

A veteran of the US Army Reserves and child welfare social worker, Julie learned that she can tackle hard things. In her service and travels, she developed her leadership skills, work/life balance, and ability to              navigate difficult situations. Her passion for family never waivered, and it was during her service that she met her spouse and shortly thereafter they started their family together. After a 3 year tour in Germany, they settled down in Oakland County Michigan to raise their children.
